Several new terms are added to the Musculus extensor digitorum longus: (1) the extensor expansion; (2) the central band of fibres of the extensor expansion, which attaches to the basis of the middle phalanx; and (3) the collateral bands of the extensor expansion, which attach to the distal phalanx.
